As a Junior Partner and Director of the Intellectual Property Practice Group of ROCA, Ana Paula has focused her practice on all aspects related to Intellectual Property in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. With her experience in handling large IP portfolios, Ana Paula assists clients in the preparation of strategies, the defense and interposition of administrative and judicial actions, which allows the adequate protection of their brands and inventions, as well as the development of its business in accordance with national and international regulations.
Ana Paula provides advice in the negotiation and execution of licensing agreements, franchises and all other agreements related to the area, as well as for the development of innovative technological software, the publishing of books, and the transfer of important trademarks and patents of the pharmaceutical industry, life sciences , food and beverage.
Under her coordination, the IP Practice Group executes everything related to searches, registration, maintenance and renewals of trademarks, invention patents, utility models and industrial designs.
Similarly, she manages for large companies of cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, cleaning products and food for humans and animals, all regulatory processes to obtain the necessary health permits for commercialization. Among the various cases in which she has actively participated, we can highlight: (i) the administration of the industrial property portfolio in the Caribbean of one of the leading companies in the non-alcoholic beverage industry; (ii) the management of the portfolio of brands in the Dominican Republic considered as a world leader in technology, services and medical solutions; (iii) the representation of one of the most renowned manufacturers of watches and jewelry, in the administrative and judicial actions filed against a confusingly similar brand of a leading multinational technology company; among others.
Over the years, Ana Paula has participated in organizations and associations, both national and international, where she has been able to reinforce her knowledge and collaborate with the protection, defense and dissemination of intellectual property rights at the regional level.
